On to Maine, in order to beat the Boston traffic I picked up my traveling companion Doug at 4 AM at his house and left for a weekend in Maine. There was traffic on the road but it did not slow us down and we arrived at Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island at approximately 10 AM.
We spent the time looking at the scenics and birds. Frenchman’s Bay
We went to the top of Cadillac Mountain, because I wanted to take some photographs there, however, the parking lot was jammed full and there were cars parked along the road.So we stopped on some of the pull offs and parking areas on the side of the Cadillac Mountain Road in order to take Bald EagleCadillac MountainDougSheep Laurel –“lambkill”Oxeye DaisySheep Laurel
Mountain Sandwort
Wild Lupine pictures and to bird watch. Eagle Lake
The scenics were wonderful, there were fluffy clouds in the sky and many different wildflowers in bloom.
We finished up our trip around Acadia at the Wild Gardens of Arcadia and walked around the Sieur de Monte trail, where we found a few warbler's.Chestnut-sided Warbler Eastern Chipmunck
Blackburnian Warbler
After we left Arcadia we continued up Route 1 to Machais, where we will be staying for the rest of the weekend.
