Silky Flycatcher |
Here we are the final full day in Costa Rica. The rest of the group woke up early and went up the road to photograph the Quetzal. Because of the climb and the way my back was bothering me. I did not go and so I missed out on photographing this iconic bird. I stayed at the lodge and photograph some of the birds around the lodge and after the group came back and we had breakfast, we packed up to start the trip back into San Jose.

We stopped on the way back not only for lunch, but also to photograph the fiery-throated hummingbird and the Hummingbird garden of the the Paraiso Quetzal lodge. The fiery-throated hummingbird puff out their gorgeous throat colors especially when they have being pugnacious.

Finally arriving back in San Jose at our hotel, after resting, the plan was prior to supper after it was dark, was to go searching hopefully to find tree frogs in the garden. We were unlucky with the tree frogs, since the weather had been dry and they usually don't come out of the tops of the trees unless it is wet. However, we did discover a leopard frog along with a egg mass and some wolf spiders.

After a great supper, we said goodbye to one of our participants who was leaving for the airport very early in the morning. The rest of us, had breakfast, then said goodbye and went back to our rooms to pack and bring our luggage down for a trips to the airport. It was sad saying goodbye to Costa Rica and I am hoping to get back again next year.
