Wanderings in Westport MA

We spent part of Thursday morning along the ocean in Westport, Massachusetts to see what birds we could find. The day was sunny with clear skies and a moderate wind blowing. There was the usual standard species of gulls present with no unusual ones. There will was a couple of large flocks of Brant along the shore at the Westport town beach on E. Beach Rd. and since the tide was going out there were a number of purple sandpipers feeding on the rocks.

At Horseneck beach, there were Savannah and Ipswich sparrows trying to find food in the snow piles. I did scatter some seed for them. At the shore, it was relatively quiet with just some gulls present and one Sanderling.
