Black-crowned Night-Heron - Nycticorax nycticorax

Black-around Night-Heron with pink legs
The other day, on Massbird, it was reported that the Black-crowned Night-Herons had returned to Jenney Pond in Plymouth, Massachusetts.  What was unusual to the observer is that he had noticed pink legs on a black-crowned night-Heron..  His bird guide that he had with him, made no mention of pink legs.  When he got home and checked some other guides, it was mentioned that in breeding season that the Black-crowned Night-Heron can have pink legs.  On our visit to Jenney Pond, we observed five Black-crowned Night-herons, two of which had pink legs.
I wish I could have obtained photographs without all the branches around the birds, but since they were across the pond, there was no way of getting closer to them or obtaining
Black-crowned Night-Erin comparison
any better angles
