I Did a Boo-Boo Today! Plus Black-crowned Night-heron.

Black-crowned Night-heron - Nycticorax nycticorax
I told people always to check out all your camera settings before you start shooting.  Well, today I did not do that.  All I checked was my ISO setting after I put a card into the camera and formatted the card.  What I forgot, was the last time that I was photographing it was the Duck Derby and I shot in fine JPEG.

I was down at Jenney Pond in Plymouth and found three black-crowned night-herons, one of which was out on a limb in the open and was preening itself.  It started out facing me, and then eventually turned around so it's back was to me, but gave me good views of its preening process.  As I was merrily shooting away, I finally noticed in the information grid inside the viewfinder that I seem to have many more pictures available to shoot on the card.  I said to myself, oh oh, then the thought struck me, I did not change from fine JPEG back to RAW.  Looking at the settings, no, I did not change it.  Therefore, I change it at that point.  Most of my pictures were going to be JPEG, but I at least had some the Photos in raw.

So, before you go out and started taking pictures, make sure all your settings are the way you want them.
