Happy New Year and Postprocessing a Snowy Owl

Happy new year to all my readers.

This morning, prior to getting ready to travel out to Westport for a beach ramble, being led by my good friend Doug at Allens Pond Audubon Sanctuary, I decided to work with one of my pictures of the snowy owl from last January.

After selecting the image that I wanted to work on, I  first did adjustments in Lightroom, then open the image in Photoshop and utilized NIK Silver Efex Pro to convert the image to a black and white.

One thing that really makes the snowy owl standout its its bright yellow eyes, so I took my black and white image and added yellow to the eyes in Photoshop.

The background of the image is bland, so I decided to add a bright morning sky behind the image, by utilizing layer masks and the brush tool.
